The Rye Police are an integral part of the City of Rye. Their various community programs throughout the year bring them closer to the residents, especially children in the community.

In partnership with the Rye School district, patrol officers are given a school to “adopt”. This program is overseen by the Youth Detective.  The Adopt a School Program allows officers to walk the school property and buildings while interacting with teachers, staff and students.  This is done during patrol tours that overlap with school hours and activities.  Officers also participate in classroom activates and lessons when appropriate,  showing that police are a normal part of the community.  This encourages better communication between the school and the police, while also helping students become more familiar with the police.

Below is a selection of Police events each year:

April - Autism Awareness

May - National Police Week (may include "Coffee with a Cop” & the YMCA Derby)

June - Senior Picnic held at Rye Recreation

August - National Night Out

September - Rye Golf Classic (PBA golf outing)

October - Breast Cancer Awareness and the Color Run

November - Turkey Trot

December - Mistle Toe Magic and the Senior Dinner
