The City Clerk serves as the custodian of records for the City of Rye with respect to official City documents and the City Council. The Office of the City Clerk preserves and compiles local laws, ordinances, resolutions, and public notices of the Council. The City Clerk is the secretary to the Board of Appeals, Records Management Officer for the City, Records Access Officer for Freedom of Information requests, and manages all public parking for the City. The Clerk has custody of the City seal and affixes it to such documents as authorized by law or Council. Together with the Westchester County Board of Elections, the Clerk also manages all local, district, state, and national primary and election days within the City of Rye.
