Created at the March 24, 2021 Council meeting, the Community Police Advisory Committee was established to address the needs of the community, foster trust with the community, and address any issues as it relates to racial bias and disproportionate policing of people of color.
The Committee consists of the Public Safety Commissioner and one other sworn Rye Police Officer and seven public members to be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the Council. The Public Safety Commissioner and the Rye Police Officer shall be ex-officio members and the seven public members shall not hold any paid City office and shall serve without compensation for staggered terms of three year.
