New Leaf Blower Law in Rye – Effective May 1, 2026 

The City of Rye has updated its local law regarding leaf blowers! 

 What’s changing?
• All gas-powered leaf blowers are now banned citywide
• Applies to homeowners, landscapers, tenants, and contractors
• The ban is year-round (no more seasonal exceptions)

 What’s still allowed?
• Battery-powered and electric leaf blowers
• Other gas-powered lawn equipment (not affected)

 Usage Hours (unchanged):
• Weekdays: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Weekends: 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
• Not allowed on holidays

 Enforcement:
Violations may result in increasing fines

 Limited exceptions:
• Municipal use, schools, certain institutions
• Emergency or storm response situations

This is a major step toward reducing noise and improving air quality in our community. Make sure you’re compliant before May 1.
