Description of Services
Rye Recreation is recognized for its distinctive approach to providing high quality programs, special events, activities and facilities to all people of all ages. The operation includes the Damiano Center and McDonald Building, four parks and nine athletic fields, twelve tennis courts (six with lights), three picnic shelters and grounds, four playgrounds, a multipurpose area with lights, a skate park, numerous basketball courts and passive green space round out our operation.  In all, 79 acres of dedicated park land.  The department has a workforce of 9 full-time employees that include 4 professional staff, four park maintenance and one clerical. They are supplemented by key part-time and seasonal hires, which have proven to be a vital and important service as it provides first time job experience for many of Rye’s teens.

Are you interested in a summer camp job with Rye Recreation?

Here is all of the information that you'll need to apply (please read carefully):

INFORMATION FOR ALL POSITIONS (INCLUDING JUNIOR COUNSELORS)

  • All camp staff (including Junior Counselors) must commit to working at least 5 out of the 6 weeks of camp.  No camp employee is permitted to miss the first week of camp.  Additionally, all camp employees must attend our mandatory training sessions.  The dates are tentatively set for:
    June 15th (6:00 - 9:00 p.m.), June 29th (9:00 - 3:00 p.m.) and June 30th (9:00 - 3:00 p.m.).

  • If you are 16 years of age or older, please pay close attention to the job descriptions found on the application website.  Please apply only for the job title(s) for which you are qualified & interested.

INFORMATION FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN JUNIOR COUNSELOR POSITIONS

  • If you are interested in a Junior Counselor position, you must complete your application by April 1, 2010.

  • In order to qualify for a Junior Counselor (volunteer) position, you must be entering 9th grade in the fall of 2010, and not older than 16 years of age.  After the April 1st deadline, we will determine how many spaces/positions we have available, and we will start the interview process.

CAMP E-MAIL SIGN UP

You must sign-up here, by clicking the link above, to receive important camp information!  This is the only way that you will receive information before and during the camp season, such as the parent handbook, summer calendar, trip permission slips & weekly updates.

  • Click on each camp in which you have a child registered

  • If you have children in more than one camp, you must subscribe to each camp

  • You may register more than one e-mail address

  • You will receive a confirmation e-mail

  • You must click on the link in the e-mail to confirm your subscription within 48 hours

REMEMBER:
Kiddy Camp is for campers ages 3 to 5 (not entering grade K)
Lower Camp is for campers going into grades K - 2
Upper Camp is for campers going into grades 3 - 6
Camp 78 is for campers going into grades 7 & 8

  •  Only a percentage of total spaces available in a class are online.  If an online program appears full,
    please stop in or contact Rye Recreation for availability
