Welcome ladies and gentlemen to Rye Police News. This is a news and
information program brought to you by Police Commissioner William R.
Connors and the City of Rye Police Department. These are the news and
information stories leading up to the 9th of April, I'm your host,
Officer Gary L. Olivier. Our first story is as follows:
A Rye woman reported to police that her 1995 Dodge Avenger was stolen from a local service station. The vehicle was stolen sometime overnight on the 23rd. The license plate on the vehicle is NY EX577F. Great Stuff, located on Purchase Street reported to police that an unknown person or persons stole clothing items from the store valued at over 500.00. The items where discovered missing on the 25th when an employee took inventory of the stock. Patrol units filed a report. An employee of CVS reported to police that on the 22nd, a white male entered the store and fled with an unknown number of items without paying for them. The staff at the store was unable to get a better description of the criminal. Patrol units logged the report and will give the are extra patrol as time and manpower allow. A resident of 101 Theall Road reported to police that her visa credit card was stolen from her while at the pavilion area of the Osborne Home sometime on the 22nd. Patrol units logged the report and the detective division will follow up. Back to Top A parishioner of the Resurrection Church was the victim of a larceny on the 1st. The victims 1991 Ford was broken into by an unknown creep or creeps. entrance was gained to the vehicle by a passenger side window being smashed. Once inside the vehicle the low lifes stole the victims purse. The purse was later recovered by PO Julio Rossi minus the cash that was in it. The damage to the window of the car and the cash that was taken is valued at 310.00 dollars. In this day and age people you really can't leave anything of value in your vehicles locked or otherwise. Take your handbags with you and any other items of value, lock them in your trunk. Another handbag was grabbed on the 8th. A Hillside Road resident reported to police that her handbag was taken from her vehicle, possibly in an other location other than her driveway. 30.00 in cash and 100.00 worth of other related items where stolen. A Midland Avenue resident reported to police that his vehicle sustained damage as a result of vandals on the 2nd. Apparently a couple of idiots with nothing better to do shot holes in the victims windshield causing damage to the tune of 250.00. Patrol units logged the report and will spend some extra time in the area. Back to CVS. A white male, (no further description) ran out of the CVS car and into a small beige vehicle. Apparently the criminal filled a store basket with items and then fled without paying for them. You know the drill. Report filed, turned over for further, extra patrol. Back to Top OK, Grandview Avenue, pocket book left in car, cars window smashed, pocket book stolen from vehicle. 250.00 for the smashed window and 110.00 for the pocket book and cash inside it. ( Please, stop leaving these things in your cars ). A Forest Avenue woman reported to police that her purse was stolen from the front seat of her car on the 29th. The slug or slugs entered the vehicle by smashing the passenger window. ( Does any of this sound familiar ?? ) the window is valued at 300.00 dollars and 600.00 in cash was stolen. A Theodore Fremd resident reported to police that his handicapped parking permit was stolen from his vehicle sometime on the 1st. A 20 foot extension ladder was stolen from the rear of Rudy's oyster bar on Purchase Street back on the 2nd. This occurred at 8 Am. Surveillance cameras caught the suspect on tape. An employee of Con Edison reported to police that a cell phone and other equipment were taken from the facility located 511 Theodore Fremd Avenue on the 18th. The employee discovered the items missing from a office area of the building. The phone and other items are valued at 350.00 dollars. While on patrol Officer Michael Larkin arrested a Mamaroneck man on driving charges. Noel Barillas was charged with operating with a suspended registration. He posted 50.00 bail and has a date with the judge. A Rye man was arrested by patrol units on April 4th. Robert Bender was taken in to custody at "The Pub" bar on Elm place. Bender was arrested on fugitive from justice warrant. The warrant was issued by NY City for failure to appear on a previous charge. Officer Mike Kenny took Bender in to custody and he was turned over to the NYPD warrant squad. Back to Top A Trumbull CT man was arrested outside of Kelly's Sea Level on the 28th. James Cody was taken into custody after a disturbance outside the bar. Cody was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was processed at Rye HQ and then remanded to the Westchester County Jail. He was being held on a 1000.00 cash bail. A New Rochelle man surrendered to Rye Detectives on the 27th. Christian Rodriquez turned himself in to Dets. Kenny and Chittenden on a fugitive from justice warrant. Rodriquez was processed at HQ and later had a date with the judge. While on patrol in the village area Officer Julio Rossi effected an arrest of a Bronxville man for allegedly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Dante Miele was charged with leaving the leaving the scene and operating with a suspended registration. Miele was processed at Rye HQ and later released on 50.00 bail. A Port Chester man was arrested on the 27th for driving charges. Christian Arellano was stopped for alleged traffic violations by Officer Mike Anfuso. Upon further investigation, Anfuso ascertained that Arellano's license was suspended. He was placed under arrest and processed at Rye HQ. Back to Top A New Milford man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license on the 27th. Thomas Wolfe was arrested by Officer Mike Larkin on Purchase after a traffic stop. Wolfe was processed at Rye HQ and given a date with the judge. Christopher Leighton of Hartsdale was arrested for a suspended registration on the 4th. He was processed by Officer Anfuso and has upcoming court dates. A Port Chester man was arrested by Officer Jeff Golanec and charged with driving with no license. Barulio Saquicela stopped on Midland Avenue for alleged traffic violations and upon further investigation charged with unlicensed operation and other driving charges. He too has a date with the judge. More Officer Golanec... Officer Golanec effected a DWI arrest on the 1st. Amy Mulcahy of Mamaroneck was taken into custody after being stopped for, (everybody) alleged traffic violations. Upon further investigation, Officer Golanec ascertained the defendant had been drinking. Mulcahy was processed at Rye HQ and has future court dates. Back to Top Real quick before I forget. The Rye Police Department will be hosting a National Safety Council defensive driving course on April 23rd and 25th, 630 to 930. Applicants must attend both sessions and the cost is 45.00. Upon successful completion of the course entitles you to a 10% discount on your liability insurance and up to 4 points off your driving record. You can reserve your spot in the class by calling the friendly Rye Police Officer at 967-1234. Last one.... While on patrol on Midland Avenue, Officer Golanec performed a vehicle stop which resulted in the operator of the vehicle being arrested for DWI and a host of driving charges. Paulino Montes of Bridgeport was placed under arrest and processed at Rye HQ. He was released on 200.00 bail and has future court dates. Well people, that's all there is, there is no more. Let's all work together to make Rye a safe place to live and work. keep an eye out for one another and report any suspicious activity you see to the Rye Police. For Police Commissioner William R.
