The City of Rye, New York

In May 2005 the City of Rye, New York embarked on a project to make its property tax bills easier to read, easier to understand, and more informative. This website is devoted to that project.
Our goal is to develop a property tax bill that is designed by the general public, keeping in mind that New York State law (Real Property Tax Law Article 9, Title 3, Section 922) regulates to some extent what can, and what cannot, appear on a property tax bill. An excellent source for the basics of real property taxes and New York State's Taxpayer Bill of Rights. We must also keep in mind the limitations posed by the amount of information that can fit on standard letter-sized paper while keeping the type large enough to allow for easy reading.
We suggest that you print the traditional property tax bill and the proposed property tax bill, and after reviewing both, give us your opinion by completing our survey form.
We thank those who prompted us to initiate this project, especially Mssrs. Bertrand De Frondeville, Larry Lehman, and Chris Cohan.
Please feel free to use the survey form to offer your comments, questions, and suggestions, all of which are valued for their contribution to the success of this project.
