The Hiring Process
All City of Rye positions are governed by New York State Civil Service regulations. Some positions require that job applicants take a Civil Service examination. These examinations are administered by the Westchester County Department of Human Resources. In order to receive consideration for a job opening in a competitive class position, an applicant must pass the civil service examination for that position and score among the top three candidates who are interested in the position. While some classes of positions do not require that applicants take examinations, most require that applicants possess minimum job requirements. email: email@example.com. City of Rye job applications will be maintained for one year and are reviewed periodically by departments who intend to interview and make appointments for non-competitive or labor class positions.
Full-time and part-time job openings are posted on departmental and common area bulletin boards in each of the City’s buildings. Job postings typically contain information regarding job duties, minimum qualifications, salary range, filing dates, and the materials required to apply (i.e. application, resume, etc.).
Applications for seasonal positions (i.e. Summer employment) are accepted by the department (Recreation, Boat Basin, Golf Club, Public Works, and Police Department) performing the interviews and hiring. Please contact the individual departments regarding positions available and the procedures for submitting an application.
A listing of Westchester County’s announcements of upcoming tests for competitive positions are also posted in the Finance Department.
